― Osroes V to Hilmes in The Heroic Legend of Arslan (anime), "The Road to Peshawar"

Osroes V (オスロエス五世 Osuroesu Nanasei? ) was the seventeenth King of Pars, the eldest son of Gotarzes II, the adoptive father of his half-brother Hilmes and elder brother of Andragoras III, and rumored to have been assassinated by Andragoras.

History[]

Osroes was the previous king before his younger brother, Andragoras. In 304, at the age of 30, he died from illness after being injured from falling from his horse. He is rumored to have been murdered by his brother for the throne and, possibly, the hand of Tahamine. This caused his son Hilmes to harbor a great hatred towards his uncle.

It is later revealed, that Hilmes is not Osroes' son, but his father Gotarzes II's son, with the mother's being Osroes' wife.

Etymology[]

Osroes is the Hellenized form of Persian Khusraw, meaning "good fame."
