Rukhnābād was the sacred sword of the first King of Pars, Kaykhusraw.

History[]

Using Rukhnābād, Kaykhusraw managed to defeat the Serpent King Zahhāk, and he buried the sword with the demon in Mount Damāvand.

300 years after that feat, Gieve was tasked by Narsus to find Rukhnābād as proof of Arslan's legitimacy to ascend the throne. After obtaining the weapon, Arslan used it in his final battle against Zahhāk, ultimately killing him with it.

After Arslan's death, the blade chose for its next master the grandson of Kishward, Rostam.

Inspiration[]

Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar may have been the inspiration for Rukhnābād. This sword was forged by Kaveh the Blacksmith for the legendary Persian prince Milad. The witch mother of a hideous horned demon called Fulad-zereh used a charm to make his body invulnerable to all weapons except this specific sword.
