The popularity of the Arslan Senki novels was so great that it became natural for it to make a transition to manga form. Yoshiki Tanaka's novel series was adapted into a manga in November 1991 written and illustrated by Chisato Nakamura. The manga caught up with the novel and received an original ending in September 1996. The manga received a six-part (unfinished) anime OVA.
